Si vous avez un serveur avec des maps custom il peut-être intéressant de diffuser un EXE avec vos maps cela afin de simplifier la vie de vos joueurs.
Pourquoi utiliser un installateur ?
Il faut partir du principe que vos joueurs sont stupides.... Oui oui vous avez bien lu "stupides", en fait la plupart du temps un simple zip suffirait mais il faut penser qu’il y aura toujours un joueur qui n’y arrivera pas.De plus avec votre installeur vous pouvez fournir un désinstalleur.
Ultime argument : un installateur est la preuve d’un certain professionnalisme.
Quel programme choisir ?
Il existe une multitude de programmes permettant de créer un installateur, la plupart sont payants. Mon choix est un freeware en français, InstallMaker de ClickTeam.
Ses avantages :
gratuit (juste le copyright à la fin de l’installation)
léger, seulement 70 ko pour une installation vide
un assistant à la création pour les débutants
capable de lire dans la base de registre (pratique pour localiser le dossier du jeux)
création d’un désinstallateur
En conclusion
Bien entendu il existe des alternatives à ce programme, mais c’est celui ci qui est le plus courant dans la communauté francophone (vous vous en apercevrez lors de la création de votre premier installateur). Dommage qu’il ne soit pas OpenSource... Une version pro est dispo mais ne présente pas un intêret majeur.
